Almost Wordless Wednesday: Rin's Eye Cyst and Turmeric, a year later

One of the more popular posts of MyDogsLove.Me is regarding our usage of Turmeric to reduce the size of Rin's Eye Cyst. I am proud to say that incorporating turmeric in Rin's diet is one of the best decisions I and my sister ever made for the dog.

The size reduction in Rin's eye cyst has been dramatic.

  1. Wow, fabulous! Now, did you vet suggest it (can't imagine, unless you have a holistic vet), or did you research yourself? I much prefer non-pharmaceutical options first and foremost, if possible, though you can't find a vet in our area who would agree. :-/

    1. We researched about it because the vet only offered surgical removal and even then, she told us that it would still grow again so if it weren't bothering her, we should just leave it be.

  4. Nice one what a difference. I prefer natural herbs for medicine instead of the chemicals vets prescribe as if we don't get enough chemicals with our vaccinations, worming and flea prevention.

I've never tried turmeric even though my Dad puts it in his curries i do have garlic tablets though.

    Take care Sheba.

    1. You might want to give it a try, Ian. It's better than Garlic... however, I'm not sure about the smell- whichever is stronger. LOL.

  14. Hello guys this is Haopee's beau. I am writing to you guys instead of her since she has had no internet for the past 2 days because of the monsoon rains. Thus I have been given specific instructions to write a comment about this topic on her behalf.

During our past veterinary visit for Rin's cyst the doctor said that if it doesnt bother the dog much that we should just leave it be. When in fact Rin is scratching it that is why I reasearched on alternative medicines and found how a number of pet owneers have used this.

Since it is a spice used in curry, I looked it up to check if it had bad effects on dogs. I was surprised at its multiple benefits and prayed that it would alleviate her problem. Thankfully, it had produced such positive results. Thats when I found out about the medicinal properties of Turmeric Powder.

  18. Wow! That is great! I gave our Lab turmeric when she had cancer. I've read where it is suppose to be a cancer preventative. It's great stuff!

By the way, did you get your book?

  19. That is remarkable! I really need to look into holistic vet care more. Do you have any favorite books or websites? I'll have to keep this in mind and link to a post in the future.
